Idiot Wind

1.
Chrysalis 03:47
No matter what side I’m no use for you From ships to shelters My refuge No one fights for us But do i know you My prayer flag No water in my bowl Attentive I’ve seen it always, all the time Where it’s by Where it’s by Where it’s by On my beads My scars Where it’s by Where it’s by On a knife No use kidding me
2.
Imbued 03:43
If I saw you Would I tell you The dust on my screen You won't tell a soul The light I see Nobody knows Imbued Am I cool? Imbued Am I cool? No love’s untied No love’s without a path in mind A body in the way A body where I want to be Want to be So obey And my face on the glass Am I someone you’ll forget The path in the way And I saw your face And I saw your face
3.
Sustainer 03:54
A Ship For Conquerors In to barren lands Not for us Not for us Never chosen Keeps us frozen Into the ground To the ground How many Chosen From thousands A setting sun All the world’s come to An end It splits into Our origin of the same All leads to the end Our origin leads to the end Just not for us Just not for us Our consequences For our lives Our lives through The human thread To connect us To connect us The connector
4.
Mountainside 03:39
It was our own doing To hurt you To waste your time Out of my intentions Of ever going back A reflection On an uglier side You can watch History repeat through our lives Repeat through our lives We turned away Despite the fact There was no one there To enforce the fact We turned away Despite the fact There was no one there To enforce the fact To enforce the fact No enforcer to enforce us It was our own Doing To hurt you To rob you blind No enforcer We went on our own way Despite the fact There was no one there Was it all to hurt you? To take you from all that's good? No enforcer To tell me what to do Or how to act And still we left Traveled Not a word a reason why Not a word a reason why
5.
And if you think That I’m guilty For the crime I won't bite You can tell me what’s beyond the dotted line You could tell me The reasons at best just killing time A sea of envy Or is it best to live in mystery? Or with your feet planted Face first to the bitter fact Is it worse if it burdens you? But still rooted in something good There are closed walls To a broken heart It doesn’t mean much If it’s nothing you can’t see Guarded walls To a vacant city A home where we play no part And if the sentence lifts the hairs off your skin Exalt and live far from convention It’s never too much To be demanding A give and take of A push and pull away from your skeletons Your skeletons
6.
Lidless 04:11
You want to know The secret To long life So hold your head And walk out of sight So walk out of sight And I’ll be envious It’ll be the death of me It’ll be The death of me Close your eyes So you stay ignored Jealous And naked Don’t lay witness To the horrible sight Which will render you Blind Do you want this to end? Do you want to end this?

about

An idealized image of a place you've never been to, and have only seen from far away. Trekking a frozen mountainside not in pursuit of something, but only to run away from where you were chased out of.

Named after the Blood on the Tracks song, Idiot Wind is Savion Achod’s fourth EP under the Sayveeyun moniker. Whereas Impulse Ode and his collaborations with Lila Tirando a Violeta were signs of his obsession with noise and distorted drum beats, Idiot Wind showcases a softer side to his music, emphasizing up front vocals and lush textures over intricate drum patterns and flashy sonic gestures. Lyrics are written in a stream of consciousness manner as a means to compliment the forward moving progression of each track, eschewing verse chorus structure for brief but meaningful reflections on online personas, opportunism, and guilt.

Sonically, it takes just as much from 2010s deconstructed club and modern ambient music as it does dream pop and psychedelic folk. Tracks like “Chrysalis” and “Imbued” are prime examples of Savion’s meticulous approach towards sound design and movement, fusing weightless bass music and ghostly vocal samples together with songwriting that gives as much reverence to refugees and prayer beads as it does to connecting to others online only to use them. As the record progresses, rhythms become less complex, making way for a collage of processed field recordings, warped melodies, and vocal transformations to build up in intensity, crescendoing into direct confessions and lamentations amid waves of ambient bliss.
